Who is at the ass-end of PIGS?  And why?

There is perhaps nothing more telling of Spain’s place in today’s world than being the "s" at the ass-end of "PIGS." It is also, apparently the "s" at the ass-end of "ass."

Now that Greece has gone into the proverbial calm before the melt-down, Spain has become the idiot EU member that cannot stay out of the news. Here are some examples of how Spaniards, and particularly their king, have become the pig’s ass in just the last month.

Fatally stupid train driver driving a train at over 100 mph in a 50 mph zone while talking on the phone.

A Spanish train was hurtling around a curve at 179 kph (111 mph), more than twice the speed limit, when it leapt off the tracks in a disaster that killed 79 people, a report on the contents of the "black box" recorders showed Friday.

The train driver was on the telephone to the on-board conductor and stopped speaking just 11 seconds before the July 24 derailment near the northwestern city of Santiago de Compostela, said the report. -- France 24

Too stupid to put an elevator in a skyscraper to cover floors 21-47.

In what will surely go down in history as one the greatest architectural blunders, the town of Benidorm in Alicante, Spain, had almost completed its 47-story skyscraper when it realized it excluded plans for elevator shafts. -- NY Daily News

Brings to mind in a big way the story about the architect telling the doctor "At least you can bury your mistakes."

Building a billion euro airport, bankrupting the bank that backed it, and then selling it for 100 million hoping to avoid debtor’s auction

Fly to: 38°51'43.20" N 3°59'42.18" W

The airport is one of the most egregious examples of the excesses of Spain's building boom and the vainglory of the local political barons who, jealous of Bilbao's emblematic Guggenheim Museum, plundered the savings banks to build cultural centres, high-speed rail networks and airports without pausing to carry out a feasibility study. -- The Guardian

The article fails to mention that the deal includes the 100M euros cash and assumption of 600M euros debt.  Large print giveth, small print taketh away.

Shit-for-brain King Juan Carlos lobbies Moroco to free seriously serial Spanish pedophile, Daniel Galvan Fina.

    Daniel Galvan Fina.

The paedophile was convicted 18 months ago in Kenitra, near the capital Rabat, of raping children aged 4 to 15.

Fina, who was serving a 30-year sentence, was among 48 jailed Spaniards who were pardoned by the king on Tuesday at the request of Spain's King Juan Carlos, who visited Morocco last month. -- Al Jazeera

Carolos and Fina should both be locked up in my opinion.  But Carlos has a war to fight . . .

Shit-for-brain King Juan Carlos picks a fight with UK over Gibralter by initiating bogus border checks. Her Majesty’s Ships are under way.

Meanwhile Spanish Prime Minister’s intervention followed a formal protest by Britain’s ambassador in Madrid over "disproportionate" checks at the border with Spain and Spanish threats to levy a charge on vehicles crossing into Gibraltar and to close airspace. Yesterday No 10 confirmed that British warships will soon set sail for Gibraltarian waters as part of a planned exercise in the Mediterranean. -- The Independent

It started when Gibraltar dropped a bunch of concrete blocks just off shore to stop Spanish fishermen from trawling.

Maybe if the idiot Spaniards would plead and pay cash they could get the Moors to come back and rebuild the Iberian peninsula into its formal glory.
