~ A White House petition to call on the UN to investigate the 2014 Nakba Day killings ~

12 yo Muhammad al-Dura, moments before death

On May15.2014 three unarmed Palestinian teenagers were apparently gunned down by Israeli Defense Forces during a Nakba Day demonstration in Beitunia, in the West Bank. Nakba Day is a sort of push-back event held each year as a counter-weight to Israeli "Independence Day," which is a misnomer if I ever heard one. The Nakba, or Disaster, refers to the European Jews', mostly Russian Ashkenazis, invasion of Palestine in the 1930's and 1940's and their killing thousands of Palestinians and dispossessing over 700,000 survivors of their homes and land -- a disaster that continues to this day in the form of Israeli Apartheid.

At any rate, two of the three teenagers gunned down in Beutunia are alleged to have died from their wounds. One of them was Nadim Nuwara, who can be seen on CCTV taking a slug to the chest and, oddly, pitching forward toward the direction of the shot, catching his fall with his hands, a falling gently onto the ground.

The second young man appears to have been shot in the back while walking away from the direction of fire about an hour later. He fell in precisely the same spot as Nuwara. The Palestinian media canít seem to agree on what his name was Ė Muhammad Abu Thahr, Mohammad Mahmoud Odeh Salameh, Muhammad Odeh Abu al Daher have all been proposed, so your guess is as good as theirs.

There is a lot that is really odd about these "shootings" but I wonít go into details here. My point here is that this case needs to be examined by the UN High Commission for Human Rights as a possible war crime committed by an occupying power. And the reason I say it is because these cases just keep coming up over and over again where IDF goons take out unarmed Palestinians, often kids, and then the soldiers responsible are absolved of any guilt by . . . you guessed it! . . . the IDF.  IOW, the IDF are completely immune from any consequences of killing Palestinians. Here are two of thousands of examples.

In 2004 some prick IDF officer unloaded an entire clip of 10 rounds into an unarmed, non-hostile 13 year old Palestinian girl named Iman al-Hamas who apparently had wandered into the wrong place. This prick walked up to her after she had been wounded and emptied his clip into her. An internal IDF investigation acquitted the officer in spite of audio recordings of IDF radio chatter during the murder saying the girl was not a threat. The officer was promoted and won some sort of judgment against an Israeli news outlet that reported the murder. Hereís a contemporaneous Guardian report by Chris McGreal. Also, run a Wiki on "Imam al-Hamas." The case was never been properly investigated because Israel controlled all the evidence and all the testimony. Two IDF soldiers under this pediocial prickís command originally said he killed the girl but changed their testimony on the stand.

Ditto the 2000 killing of 12 year old Muhammad al-Dura, which happened virtually before the cameras. In that case, the IDF simply went in a bulldozed the entire crime scene, and then claimed that the line of fire from IDF positions proved that the IDF bullets could not have hit the boy. Bulldozing everything in sight so no one could reconstruct what actually happened is called "spoilation of evidence" in the US justice system. Itís called "standard operating procedure" in Israel.

It is against this background of this type of Israeli apartheid killings that I bring to your attention a petition I have submitted to the White House "We the People" website. I ask for your cooperation and your signature on the petition. The petition asks President Obama to direct Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power to seek an investigation of the Beitunia killings by the UN High Commission on Human Rights. Here is the petition verbatim and here's the link

There is strong video evidence, including a report broadcast by CNN, that two unarmed Palestinian teenagers were gunned down by Israeli soldiers near the Ofer military prison in the West Bank city of Beitunia on May15.2014. We ask that President Obama instruct US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power to request that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights immediately initiate an investigation of the these deaths to determine whether they were extrajudicial killings and violations of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Please consider taking a position on this matter and consider stating your position publicly by signing the petition. Thank you.
