Helen Pow of the Daily Mail plagiarizes AP story.

The Daily Mail, true to its reputation as a third rate tabloid rag, stoops to ripping off valid news sources.  Here DM reporter Helen Pow rips off an AP article on a tragedy in California.  As of this writing, Pow's article, which is not Pow's article, does not have a single word of attribution to the AP article.  This is blatant dishonesty.

Here are a few side-by-side comparisons of the AP article , which does not provide the reporter's name, and Pow's rip-off.

AP:
A 9-year-old girl crawled out of a mangled SUV, climbed out of a canyon and walked about a mile in the middle of the night to find help after surviving a highway crash that killed her father in Southern California, authorities said.

Pow:
A brave nine-year-old girl pulled herself from a mangled SUV, climbed out of a canyon and walked about a mile in the middle of the night to find help after surviving a shocking highway crash that killed her father.

AP:
The 2010 Ford Escape was launched about 200 feet down an embankment along a semi-rural stretch of the Sierra Highway in Acton about 1 a.m. Sunday, said California Highway Patrol Officer Cheyenne Quesada. The vehicle overturned several times.

Pow:
The unnamed father and daughter were traveling home from a party when their 2010 Ford Escape was launched about 200 feet down an embankment along a semi-rural stretch of the Sierra Highway in Acton, Southern California, about 1 a.m. on Sunday.  The vehicle overturned several times, said California Highway Patrol Officer Cheyenne Quesada.

AP:
Responding officers found a man in his 30s had been killed, Quesada said. His name was not released but officials said he was from Los Angeles.  A helicopter transported the girl to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She was treated for minor injuries including bumps and bruises and a cut on her face.

Pow:
Responding officers arrived to find the 35-year-old had been killed, Quesada said. His name was not released but officials said he was from Los Angeles. A helicopter transported the girl to Children's Hospital Los Angeles where she was treated for minor injuries including bumps and bruises and a cut on her face.

Although Pow refers to the father as unnamed, she links to an ABC report that names the father.  Did Pow not read that report?  Of course she did, because she plagarized it also.

ABC:
Following the wreck, the little girl walked in nearly pitch-black surroundings along difficult terrain to try and get help for her father.  According to CHP Sgt. Tom Lackey, the girl saw a light about 1,000 feet away and made her way to a home. No one came to the door, so she back-tracked to the scene of the crash to check on her father, who was still unconscious.

Pow:
The girl managed to crawl out of the car and, after noticing a light about 1,000 feet in the distance, she walked in nearly pitch-black surroundings through rugged terrain to a nearby home, but nobody answered the door, the CHP said.  She then back-tracked to check on her father, who was 35.
