Vid turns cop into liar as dog bites man.
Officer Wiley's battery of Peter Bohmer
caught on vid
video shot on Mar5.2013 in Olympia Washington seems to provide
incontrovertible evidence that a Washington State cop, Officer Wiley, is
a liar. First name not known or I’d surely put it up for you.
The vid shows an activist for the homeless, Peter Bohmer, stepping off
of a sidewalk adjacent a parking lot of the Washington State Fish and Wildlife
building in Olympia where the pigs were tearing down a volunteer homeless tent
in the rain. The quick background is that Olympia has essentially outlawed
homelessness and the prick of a city manager, named Steve Hall, is doing
what he can to enforce both the spirit and the letter of that anti-homeless
initiative. Just what the world needs – prick bureaucrats screwing with
homeless people. It also doesn’t need prick cops like Wiley.
About 6 minutes into the video, as Bohmer walks toward the shelter tent,
Wiley immediately begins pushing Bohmer around and warning Bohmer not to assault
him. Bohmer does nothing that, in this lawyer’s opinion, could be interpreted
or construed as assault. Assault is the use or threat of use of unlawful force
to inflict bodily harm on another. There is absolutely no indication in this
video of Bohmer doing or saying anything that could be construed as the use of
force or a threat to use force. According to this video, if Wiley were to accuse
Bohmer of assault, it would be a lie.
Sure enough. We are told by Bohmer’s
careful description of what happened afterwards that he was charged with
4th degree assault and that . . .
. . .[t]he prosecuting attorney said that Officer Wiley wrote in his report
that he recognized me from many protests, that he warned me to not get closer
to him; that I pushed him, that he warned me a second time, that I pushed him
again, and that after a third warning and a third time of me pushing him with
my chest he arrested me for assault.
If Wiley did, in fact, write that in his report, and if the video is an
accurate record of what happened, then Wiley is a liar and he has filed a false
report. He should be charged with perverting the course of justice and with
whatever other charges are relevant to filing a false report. Immunity probably
keeps him from getting sued personally, but it wouldn’t prevent a federal suit
against the state or city.
We’ll see . . . not holdin' my breath.
