Murder in the SunMorgue — A Crowd-Sourced Cyber-Investigation

In the early morning hours of Aug21.2013 a bunch of civilians were killed in an area called “Ghouta” adjacent to Damascus, Syria.  Nobody knows how many fatalities there were — a few hundred to a couple of thousand is the range of estimates.

In the days following the attack the Obama administration characterized the Ghouta Massacre as a sarin rocket-attack carried out by Bashar al-Assad.  They were wrong.  It was a mass-execution carried out by the insurgents.  Nevertheless, the Obama administration did its best to convince the country that Assad should be punished.  Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, at least for the time being.
